ASSAULT:
Asslt2---w/a Dangerous Weapon
36XX Fremont Ave N                 Thursday               2/2/12             2140hrs                        12-032424
Officers were dispatched to a stabbing in the above area &amp; met V1/male, 43 yrs, who was sitting on the front steps of 36XX Fremont N. V1 showed officers what appeared to be a stab/puncture wound to the side of his chest under his heart.   V1 stated he was standing with a group of people when a fight broke out &amp; said he did not know anyone in the group. V1 was uncooperative &amp; could/would not provide any suspect information. V1 was transported to the hospital via ambulance for a non-life threatening wound.

Officers were dispatched to the above location on an Assault. Officers met OT1/female, 15 yrs, who was crying &amp; stated her mother, V1/female, 35 yrs, was inside &amp; her face was all bloody. V1 came out of a bedroom holding a towel to her head &amp; her t-shirt was covered in blood. When V1 removed the towel, officers saw cuts all over the side of her face &amp; top of her head.   V1 stated S1/male, 47 yrs, is her friend, but nothing more &amp; has been staying there to help care for her due to some recent surgery. S1 became drunk &amp; harassed OT1 &amp; V1. When V1 told S1 he had to leave, he became upset &amp; smashed a bottle over V1&#8217;s head &amp; cut her face &amp; head. S1 then fled in a vehicle &amp; was not located. V1 was transported to the hospital via ambulance.

14XX Morgan Ave N             Saturday           2/4/12                1506hrs                                12-034205
Officer was informed that a van was pulling up to North Hospital with a possible shooting victim inside. V2/female, 28 yrs, told officer that she &amp; V1/male, 24 yrs, &amp; 3 kids, were getting into their van when an older maroon car pulled up &amp; started shooting at them.    Officer was told that 5 shots were fired. V1 was shot in his buttocks &amp; also shot in the upper thigh. The bullets did not exit V1&#8217;s body.   V2 suffered grazing to a lower calf. No other parties in the car were injured. Only suspect info was 2 males.   A shell casing was recovered in front of the incident address.      
 
2nd Degree Domestic Assault   /       Asslt2---w/a Dangerous Weapon
12XX Morgan Ave N            Saturday         2/4/12               2000hrs                                  12-034437
Officers responded to the above address in reference to a Domestic Assault with weapons.  AP1/male, 35 yrs, &amp; V1/female, 35 yrs, are legally married, but have been separated since Sept. 2011.    V1 is in a new relationship with V2/male, 22 yrs. AP1 gained access to the above address by having a nephew knock on the door. When it opened, AP1 jumped on V2, who was on mattress &amp; the 2 of them wrestled.   AP1 pulled out a revolver, pointed it at V2 &amp; told V2 he was going to kill him. V1 ran to the back bathroom &amp; AP1 pursued her. AP1 pushed V1 into the bathtub &amp; stuck the revolver in her face, telling her he was going to kill her. V1 pled with AP1 to leave &amp; he finally did. AP1 was taken into custody in the immediate area, as he was on foot. AP1 was booked in HCJ for PC 2nd Degree Domestic Assault (towards his wife) &amp; PC Assault 2 (towards V2). Victims did not require medical attention.

22XX 6th St N                          Sunday                   2/5/12                 0335hrs                           12-034905
Officers were dispatched to a Shot Spotter call.    V1/female 64 yrs, V2/male, 57 yrs, &amp; V3/female, 33 yrs, told officers they were sleeping inside the home along with 2 other adults &amp; 3 children when they heard at least 8-9 shots. No one saw any suspects or heard any vehicle flee the scene. There were no injuries. Officers observed 11 total bullet holes&#8230;4 of which were in the glass on each side of the door.   It should be noted that this same house was shot at recently on the south side of the house.

24th Ave N &amp; Emerson Ave N     Sunday           2/5/12             2327hrs                            12-035495
Officers were dispatched to a Personal Injury accident at the above location.   An SUV was tipped over after knocking out a fire hydrant &amp; there were 2 occupants still strapped inside the vehicle. They were ID&#8217;d as AP1/ male, 35 yrs, &amp; V1/female, 35 yrs, who are husband &amp; wife. AP1 stated he lost control of the vehicle &amp; officers noted the smell of alcohol on his breath. Another vehicle owner had his vehicle parked in front of a utility pole that had been knocked down &amp; it was unknown if there was any damage, as the pole slipped under his car. Officers spoke to W1/a paramedic, who stated when he arrived at the scene AP1 was agitated &amp; aggressive. AP1 became very combative towards W1. W2/another paramedic stated that AP1 spit blood in the face of an officer in the ambulance.   AP1 was released at the hospital &amp; will be charged by complaint.

29XX 4th St N                      Wednesday             2/1/12                 1810hrs                        12-030993
Officers were dispatched to a disturbance &amp; met V1/male, 78 yrs, in front of this address. V1&#8217;s face was badly beaten &amp; it appeared an orbital bone was broken.   V1 stated he went to the duplex to collect the rent &amp; was told by OT1/female, 23 yrs, to come back later for it.   V1 did &amp; OT1 gave him $800 in cash, when she normally gives him a check. OT1 appeared to be stalling V1 with small talk which is also something she normally doesn&#8217;t do.   As V1 exited the door to the porch, unknown S1/male, 20-30 yrs, punched V1 in the face &amp; pushed him back into the hallway. S1 continued to punch V1 then choked him until he gave up the rent money. V1 refused an ambulance &amp; stated he would have his son take him to the hospital.   S1 was GOA. OT1 appeared extremely nervous when interviewed. It appeared that V1 had been set up for the robbery.

24th Ave N &amp; Dupont Ave N               Thursday           2/2/12                   1856hrs             12-032249
Officers were dispatched to a Robbery of Person at gunpoint call. V1/female, 21 yrs, stated she was walking down the street when KNOWN S1/male, 17-19 yrs, told her she should come over to his house on 24th &amp; Dupont. V1 knows S1 from school. When she was about half way there, S1 &amp; unknown S2/male approached her &amp; S1 demanded money at gunpoint. Suspects went through V1&#8217;s pockets, taking a wallet that contained $40 &amp; a bus card.   S1 tried hitting V1 with the gun, but she moved out of the way. Suspects then fled. V1 was not injured. A friend came &amp; picked V1 up. Suspects were not located.

20XX Washington Ave N               Friday                 2/3/12                     1912hrs               12-033375
Officers were dispatched to the above location on a possible assault that occurred in a restroom. V1/male, 69 yrs, was in the bathroom with significant lacerations over his eye &amp; his hand was bleeding. V1 stated unknown S1/male, 25-28 yrs, bit him in the hand.   V1 reported he was in the men&#8217;s room when unknown S1 asked him if he wanted to buy a watch. V1 told S1 no, &amp; S1 kneed V1 in his leg &amp; stomach area. V1 fell to the ground &amp; was punched in the face by S1. S1 bit V1 on the finger at this time &amp; took approx. $200 in cash from V1.   An ambulance transported V1 to the hospital.  A witness reported that she observed S1 &amp; S2/male, 25-28 yrs, watch V1 as he was drinking &amp; playing pull-tabs. Suspects were not located but there may be a video of the hallway near the restroom.

40th Ave N &amp; Penn Ave N           Saturday            2/4/12                   0620hrs                   12-033938
V1/female, 16 yrs, was waiting for the bus at the above location &amp; was talking on her cell phone as she waited.   Unknown S1/male, 16-22 yrs, grabbed the satchel off V1&#8217;s shoulders &amp; fled. V1 was not injured. V1 stated S1 was wearing a hood over his head which shaded his face.   The satchel contained misc. clothing. S1 was GOA.

30TH Ave N &amp; Queen Ave N         Sunday             2/5/12                 2200hrs                     12-035945
Officer was dispatched to the hospital regarding an Assault &amp; met V1/female, 51 yrs. V1 stated she was walking in the above area when she observed unknown S1/male, unknown age, walk up from behind her. S1 punched V1 in the face with his fist &amp; V1 fell to the ground. V1 was unconscious for a short time &amp; then walked to a friend&#8217;s house. V1&#8217;s purse, containing personal items &amp; medication, was missing. V1 could not provide any further info about S1. V1&#8217;s eye was badly bruised.

Emerson Ave N &amp; Plymouth Ave N               Tuesday             1/31/12         0007hrs          12-029263
Officer was in an unmarked vehicle &amp; observed 3 males walking through the park at Oak Park &amp; James Ave. 2 of the 3 males were drinking from a can &amp; passing it back &amp; forth. The can was observed to be Natural Ice Beer. Assisting squads stopped these males &amp; a pair of brass knuckles was recovered from AP1 male, 20 yrs.   AP1 was booked in HCJ for PC Weapons.   Another party was cited &amp; released for Consuming in Public.

23XX Logan Ave N                         Tuesday                       1/31/12               1141hrs           12-029607
Officers executed a search warrant at the above location &amp; recovered crack-cocaine; thousands of dollars in U.S. currency; &amp; a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun.   AP/ male, 30 yrs, was arrested for PC Weapons &amp; PC Narcotics.   AP2/male, 23 yrs, was arrested for PC Narcotics.   Both parties were booked in HCJ.

Broadway Ave W &amp; Fremont Ave N     Sunday                 2/5/12             1026hrs               12-035022
Officers conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation. There was an odor of suspected marijuana coming from the passenger side of the vehicle &amp; the occupants were removed so the vehicle could be searched. A small amount of suspected marijuana was recovered from the front passenger seat. Officers also located a loaded handgun underneath the front seat where AP1/ male, 25 yrs, was seated. AP1 was booked in HCJ for PC Weapons.

Broadway Ave W &amp; Lyndale Ave N       Monday             2/6/12             2350hrs                 12-036417
Officer was in an unmarked vehicle &amp; observed a male approach a vehicle in the lot of Winner Gas. The driver got out &amp; met AP1/male, 23 yrs, who took out a small plastic baggie containing suspected marijuana.   AP1 received money from the male, later ID&#8217;d as AP2/20 yrs. AP2 was observed returning to his vehicle &amp; handing the baggie to AP3/male, 20 yrs. There are &#8220;No Trespassing&#8221; signs posted near the biz. &amp; none of the males entered the store to purchase anything. Both vehicles were stopped &amp; all the males were removed for a search. A .177 model BB gun was recovered under the AP1&#8217;s driver&#8217;s seat. Marijuana was recovered from AP 3&#8217;s sweatshirt. AP1 was booked in HCJ for PC Weapons.   All others were booked for Loitering &amp; Trespassing.

      <title> Air Conditioner thefts &#8211; 4TH Precinct   February 7, 2012</title>
      <description>Facts:

The 4th Precinct continues to experience an increase in the theft and damage of central air conditioning units from homes. The recyclable materials from the central air conditioning units are then sold.

The Minneapolis Police Department is asking everyone in the 4TH Precinct to be particularly alert to suspicious activities outside of homes and to use sound burglary and theft prevention practices.

There have been ten additional reported incidents since 2/2/12. This brings the total number to15 damage to central air conditioning units reported. The buildings on Lowry and 44th Ave No, reported 2 units each.

Air Conditioner thefts- 4TH Precinct

Facts:

The 4th Precinct continues to experience an increase in the theft and damage of central air conditioning units from homes. The recyclable materials from the central air conditioning units are then sold.

The Minneapolis Police Department is asking everyone in the 4TH Precinct to be particularly alert to suspicious activities outside of homes and to use sound burglary and theft prevention practices.

During the past month there were five more damage to central air conditioning units reported.

What you can do:

Please be alert to strangers loitering outside of homes, lurking in alleys, near garages especially if the home is vacant.

 

Call the 4TH Precinct Property Crimes Unit at (612) 673-5714 if you have any information about stolen or vandalized air conditioning units.

 

If possible cover your unit with wrappings that are specifically for outdoor air conditioning units and are nominally priced and available at local hardware stores and discount warehouses. Some even come with secure locking devices.

 

 

Light up the area around your air conditioning unit, from dusk to dawn.

 

Alert your neighbors and block club members to the problem and be sure to watch out for each other. Remember the majority of burglars are caught because someone reported suspicious behavior immediately.

 

Pay attention to suspicious vehicles circling the block with occupants you don't recognize.

21XX Dupont Ave N                     Thursday             1/26/12               1709hrs                  12-024904
Four female victims, 21-41 yrs, went into the 4th Pct to report they had just placed an order at a drive-thru restaurant when they heard a loud &#8220;Pop.&#8221; Victims stated they thought it was a shotgun &amp; V1 stated she stepped on the gas to flee the area. Victims stated they heard several more shots &amp; the back window on the vehicle shattered. No one was hurt. Victims stated they didn&#8217;t know who was shooting at them or where the shots came from.   Shell casings were recovered from the incident.

Officers responded to the report of a triple shooting. V1/male, 22 yrs, stated he was driving with his girlfriend, V3/19 yrs, sitting in the front passenger seat; his brother, V4/21 yrs, sitting in the rear passenger seat; &amp; his cousin, V2/male, 25 yrs, was sitting in the rear driver&#8217;s side.   V1 stated they stopped in front of a house &amp; a black, 4-door vehicle pulled up next to them, facing the same direction. There were 3 unknown males, approx... 21 yrs, all wearing black knit hats in the suspect vehicle. The suspects didn&#8217;t say anything before they shot at the victims. V1 was shot in the buttocks &amp; elbow &amp; had non-life threatening wounds. V2 sustained a minor gunshot wound to the neck &amp; V3 sustained a minor wound to the shoulder.   V4 was not injured. Suspects were GOA. Victims were transported to the hospital for treatment.

45th Ave N &amp; Shingle Crk Dr             Tuesday               1/24/12           2100hrs                  12-023048
V1/male, 58 yrs, stated he was waiting for the MTC bus near the above location when he was approached from behind by 2 unknown males, 16-19 yrs. S1 forcibly pulled the backpack off his shoulders while S2 reached inside his rear pocket &amp; removed his wallet. S1 was holding a large stick at the time. S1 also grabbed V1&#8217;s MTC bus card, which had been around his neck. V1 got on the MTC bus &amp; reported the incident once he got to work. Loss included various credit/debit cards; $30 in cash; ID; a Swiss army knife, etc&#8230; Suspects were GOA. V1 was not injured.

Officer was dispatched to a Robbery of Person &amp; met V1/male, 54 yrs, who stated he was in front of his home by his car when 3 unknown males, 18-20 yrs, approached &amp; S1 put a gun to his head. S1 ordered V1 to the ground &amp; suspects went through his pockets. Suspects then fled on foot. Loss is V1&#8217;s wallet with a MN DL inside, but no cash. V1 was not injured.   Suspects were GOA.

16XX Glenwood Ave N                       Friday                     1/27/12             1420hrs              12-025823
V1/male, 17 yrs, stated known S1/male, 17 yrs, wanted V1 to meet him at the library, where they then walked to the above address. V1 stated he walked in with S1, as they were meeting another party, S2/male, 17-18 yrs. When S2 went downstairs, he immediately punched V1 in the face, knocking him to the floor. While S2 continued to punch &amp; kick V1 in the face, S1 pulled V1&#8217;s shoes off &amp; also stole his cell phone &amp; hat. V1 was transported to the hospital via ambulance with a lot of bruising on his face. V1 stated he knew S1 from being in the County Home together. Total loss is valued at $330.

Officers were dispatched to the above location on a Robbery of Person/Carjacking. Officers met V1/male, 30 yrs, who stated he placed an ad on Craigslist to sell a vehicle. V1 was contacted by 2 males, 21-25 yrs, who had V1 meet them in Brooklyn Center.   V1 went to the suspect location &amp; they test drove the vehicle around Minneapolis. When they got to the above location, S1 pointed a gun at V1, demanding his money, cell phone, &amp; for V1 to get out of the vehicle.   Suspects also took the vehicle title &amp; drove off. V1 stated the vehicle belonged to his brother &amp; his brother confirmed (via phone) that he bought the vehicle from the St. Paul PD.  V1 stated both suspects had handguns. V1&#8217;s personal loss was a $200 cell phone &amp; $2000 in cash. No injuries.

Officers responded to a Robbery of Person at gunpoint.  V1/male, 45 yrs, stated he was walking his dog in Jordan Park when 2 unknown males, 18-25 yrs, walked up &amp; asked him for a cigarette.   V1 told them he didn&#8217;t have any &amp; continued walking. S1 &amp; S2 approached again &amp; S1 pulled out a black handgun, demanding V1&#8217;s belongings. V1 gave S1 his house keys &amp; misc. mail with his name &amp; address on it. Suspects fled. V1 was not injured. No monetary loss.

Officers responded to a Robbery of Person at gunpoint &amp; spoke to V1/male, 39 yrs, who stated he had just returned home with his wife &amp; 10 yr-old child  &amp; parked the car in the garage. V1 observed 2 unknown males, 14-17 yrs, walk in the alley &amp; approach him &amp; his family. S1 pointed a gun at the victims  &amp; demanded all their money. V1 gave S1 $12 &amp; V2 gave S1 her cell phone, valued at $200.   S1 was pointing the handgun at the entire family at this time. Suspects then fled on foot. No injuries.

Officers responded to the above location on a Person with a Gun. V1/male, 26 yrs, advised that 2 males, including AP1/19 yrs, who had a gun, demanded his wallet &amp; cell phone. AP1 punched V1 several times &amp; unknown OT1/male, 17 yrs, checked the glove box on the vehicle V1 was working on in the garage.   When suspects found V1 didn&#8217;t have any valuables, they fled on foot.   An assisting squad located AP1 from a description, &amp; found a gun on his person. AP1 was positively ID&#8217;d by V1 in a &#8220;Show Up&#8221; &amp; booked in HCJ for PC Attempted Aggravated Robbery.

Officer was dispatched to a Robbery of Person &amp; spoke with V1/male, 22 yrs, who stated he was robbed at knifepoint near the above location. V1 stated unknown S1/male, 25-30 yrs, approached him at the bus stop &amp; asked for bus fare. V1 stated that when he pulled out his wallet, S1 held out a knife &amp; demanded the wallet. V1 forfeited the wallet which contained $300 in cash, a debit card, &amp; ID card. S1 fled. V1 was not injured.

Officer responded to a Robbery of Person at gunpoint &amp; met V1/male, 20 yrs, who stated he got off the bus at 39th &amp; Fremont Ave N &amp; observed 2 unknown males, 18-21 yrs, standing across the street near his house. V1 crossed the street &amp; walked by the 2 males where S1 followed him. S1 took out a small handgun, pointed it at V1, &amp; demanded his money. V1 thought S1 was demanding money, but realized he wanted V1&#8217;s i-Pod. V1 forfeited the  i-Pod to S1 &amp; was told to walk away. S2 was only watching the incident &amp; did not participate.   V1 was not injured. The i-Pod is valued at $300.

Not long after a &#8220;shots fired&#8221; call in this area, officers observed 2 males walking down the street when a sidewalk was available.  Officers approached the parties &amp; AP1/male, 22 yrs, put his hands up &amp; told officers he had a permit to carry &amp; he was armed with a pistol.   Officers detected the odor of marijuana on AP1&#8217;s breath &amp; after telling a story, AP1 admitted smoking a marijuana cigarette.   AP1 was issued a citation for carrying a pistol with a permit while under the influence of a controlled substance.   AP1&#8217;s pistol was property inventoried.

19XX Penn Ave N                         Wednesday               1/25/12             1946hrs                 12-024005
Officers observed 2 males engage in what appeared to be a narcotics deal outside a convenience store. The males never entered the store &amp; as they began to leave the lot, a marked squad was called to stop them for loitering. Both males fled on foot &amp; were apprehended a short time later. AP1/male, 15 yrs, had a loaded handgun in his jacket &amp; was booked in JDC for PC Weapons. AP2/male, 16 yrs, was cited &amp; released for Fleeing Police.

ASSAULT:

Asslt2---w/a Dangerous Weapon
34XX Knox Ave N                     Sunday               1/22/12               1726 hrs                 12-020952
Officers were dispatched to a stabbing at the above location &amp; observed V1/male, 62 yrs, with blood on his t-shirt. V1 told officers he was stabbed by AP1/female, 53 yrs, as he pointed to her. AP1 was taken into custody without incident. V1 stated they argued over a vehicle &amp; AP1 came at him with a knife, stabbing him in the head &amp; neck. V1 refused to go to the hospital as the cuts were minor. AP1 was booked in HCJ for PC Assault 2.

44XX Lyndale Ave N                 Saturday           1/21/12               1800 hrs                           12-020107
Officers were dispatched to the above location on an Assault. Officers met V1/male, 21 yrs, who had dried blood on his face.   V1 stated he was in line to buy some food &amp; pulled out a large amount of cash to pay for his food. V1 then went to the restroom &amp; was followed by 2 unknown males, 15-20 yrs. S1 hit V1 in the head from behind. V1 never saw a gun, but thought S1 had something solid in his hand. V1 attempted to get out of the restroom, but suspects kept hitting him in the head. Suspects stole V1&#8217;s cell phone, valued at $200 &amp; $300 in cash, then fled. V1 refused medical attention &amp; was transported home by officers.

V1/female, 31 yrs, was crossing the alley way when unknown S1/male, 17-25 yrs, grabbed her shoulder bag while placing a hard object in her back. S1 asked V1 if she had anything else &amp; V1 handed over her cell phone. S1 then fled on foot. V1 carries her wallet separately in her coat &amp; did not lose that. House keys &amp; misc. papers were in her shoulder bag. No injuries.

30th Ave N &amp; Knox Ave N                 Tuesday                     1/17/12               0008 hrs               12-015703
Officers observed a male, later ID&#8217;d as AP1/male, 33 yrs, trying to flag down an undercover vehicle for suspected narcotics sales. AP1 was stopped &amp; a .177 caliber BB gun was recovered nearby. Officers went to the address AP1 stated he just came from &amp; a female ID&#8217;d the gun, stating she gave it to AP1 about 3 days ago. AP1 was booked in HCJ for PC Weapons.
