About CARE

The 4th Precinct CARE Task Force is an assembly of community and agency representatives from the City of Minneapolis and Hennepin County that has been meeting weekly since September of 1998. It began as a community response to a shooting incident at a local convenience store where two neighborhood residents became victims.

CARE Task Force is a two-pronged approach toward resident safety and neighborhood livability: Intervention in the criminal process by alerting residents to crime patterns and criminal incidents as they occur and prevention through community initiatives that focus on resident and criminal justice system responsibility.

For the Task Force, this website is the logical next step to engage residents for their own well-being.

By providing reliable information the CARE Task Force hopes to increase resident awareness of the importance of calling 911, to build partnerships with the police and other law enforcement agencies and to send a message to the Judges of the 4th District that criminal behavior will not be tolerated by the community and should not be enabled by lesser sanctions for such conduct by the Court.
